Internet Mini-Class

Directions for assignment #2 -- URLs and searches

1) Please read pages 26 to 33 in the textbook (Internet and World Wide Web Simplified, 2nd edition) available in the High Tech Center and click on this hyperlink to complete the following worksheet.

2) Remember that URLs are Internet addresses.  Please reread and review the notes on the Domain Name structure.

3) Venture out onto the WWW.

• Practice typing in some URLs and visiting those sites.

• Practice some searches on the Internet by looking for information that interests you.

• Write down at least three topics you found on the back of your worksheet (from item 1 above).  Be prepared to hand this in for our next class meeting.

Helpful study hint applicable to any class: Most Instructors love it when students are active learners. One way in which you can be an active learner is by reviewing your class notes before the next class meeting and writing down any questions or comments you have. The next time the Instructor asks if there are any questions, you'll be ready!
