Directions for assignment #7 -- e-mail hoaxes

 


§       Visit at least one of the following sites:

vil.mcafee.com/hoax.asp McAfee VirusScan virus hoaxes

http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/security_response/threatexplorer/risks/hoaxes.jsp Symantec Norton Antivirus security information regarding computer virus hoaxes

 

§       Read about e-mail/virus hoaxes in general and then choose at least three (3) of the Virus Hoax Listings and read about them.

§       Practice logging onto your e-mail account

§       Send an e-mail message to your instructor Virginia Snodgrass at redwoods dot edu in which you:

1)  list three hoaxes

BONUS:  If you know how to use copy and paste skills to add descriptions of these hoaxes, please do. If you don't, we will cover this next week.

2) also include a (short) list of what you look at before opening e-mail

3) and answer the following question:  "If someone receives an e-mail with an attachment, what should they do?"
