Next week you will take the post test in this class. Remember, you cannot fail this test. You will have access to a computer with Internet access. Please bring all of your notes and class handouts.


Skills: by the end of the semester, students should be able to:
  • start and use an Internet browser

  • enter and visit URLs

  • determine the difference between valid and invalid URLs

  • use hyperlinks

  • return to previously visited sites

  • understand the basics of the domain name system

  • use a search engine to find information

  • send and receive e-mail

  • send and receive e-mail attachments

  • determine whether an e-mail is a virus hoax by consulting reputable Web sites

  • save information from websites on a floppy disk

  • print selected text from a Web page

  • use copy and paste skills to copy information to a word processor

  • save images from the Web to a floppy disk

  • use Bookmarks or Favorites to return to previously visited sites

  • change the browser's Home Page

  • determine the version number of the Internet browser

  • avoid advertisements

  • protect one's privacy

  • avoid spam -- junk e-mail

  • use www.m-w.com to look up spelling and
    use www.webopedia.com if necessary to look up computer terminology
